CANCER -- I spoke with a friend of mine today, who has a 82 year old grandfather that is dying of cancer. He has been so sick, and now only one of his kidneys is working because of medication and he is afraid if he keeps taking the medication his other kidney will fail. His daughter talked him into smoking a marijuana cig. At first he was terrified that it would lead him to using heaver drugs. I guess he was in so much pain, he just tried it anyway. He was amazed at the relief it gave him. His wife even smokes with him at night to help her to sleep. The last time she talked to her grandmother, she said, "We are going to have a whole one about 8:00." These people were dead set against marijuana in any  form. They have believed this all their lives, preached it to their kids, and grandkids. They have a whole new attitude now that they have had to use it themselves. CANCER - husband had stomach cancer, and a large portion of his intestines have been removed. Wife believes marijuana is the only thing keeping him alive.

CANCER - friend in advanced stages of cancer, put on chemo drip he carries with him. She says he'd be dead if it wasn't for marijuana.

CANCER - husband is terminal with cancer and wife is desperate for anything that will relieve his pain and vomiting

CANCER - used marijuana during chemotherapy and knows that it works for pain and nausea

CANCER - she's had several operations for cancer and knows marijuana helps the most

LUNG CANCER - used marijuana during chemotherapy and has beat the odds on survival

CANCER - wife has cancer and migraines and husband says pot helps more than anything

LIVER CANCER AND ASSOCIATED APPETITE/WASTING DISORDER - she used marijuana to eat and relieve her pain. Police arrested her and took away her little girl because she had marijuana in the house.

FRIEND OF CANCER VICTIM -- A few weeks ago, I sent this letter to the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. I gave them my full name and address to show that I'm a real person. MEDICAL USE OF MARIJUANA -- This is from my own experience and perspective, as a caregiver for a friend who died of colon cancer in 1994.  Jim was a psychologist and a very fine jazz piano player.
