Psychologists of Northwest Arkansas (PNWA)

“Psychologists of Northwest Arkansas is an association of licensed professionals who practice psychology in Washington and Benton counties. The organization supports a law which would protect people from arrest for using marijuana for medical reasons when its use was recommended by a physician or state sanctioned health care agency.”

American Civil Liberties Union of Arkansas

The federal government has no legal authority to prevent state governments from changing their laws to remove state-level criminal penalties for medical marijuana use. State legislatures have the authority and moral responsibility to change state law to:

·                    exempt seriously ill patients from state-level prosecution for marijuana possession and cultivation; and

·                    exempt doctors who recommend medical marijuana from prosecution or the denial of any right or privilege.

“There is no rational basis for the government to deny sick people of whatever remedy medical professionals believe will ease their suffering or improve their condition,” said Rita Sklar, ACLU of Arkansas Executive Director.”

“Marijuana is a viable medical treatment option for people living any debilitating disease and will help the thousands of Arkansans living with HIV/AIDS. Marijuana provides relief from chronic nausea produced by HIV/AIDS medications as well as providing relief from pain. This is a humane medical treatment option.”
